Frequently asked questions

What is the nisab for Zakat?

The nisab is the minimum wealth on which Zakat is due: the value of 87.48 g (7.5 tola) of gold or 612.36 g (52.5 tola) of silver. Many scholars recommend the silver nisab for mixed wealth because it is lower and benefits more people in need.

How much is one vori (bhori) in grams?

One vori or bhori is about 11.664 grams, nearly the same as one tola (11.6638 g).

Is this a fatwa?

No. It is a calculator to help you estimate. Scholars differ on some details, such as jewellery in regular use, so please confirm with a scholar you trust.
